Our Work

Most of biology’s hardest traits — whether an animal reproduces, how it behaves, how it withstands stress — are governed by a small set of conserved control systems. We build our science around two of them: the HPG (reproductive) and HPA (stress) axes, and the gut–brain networks they operate within. We don’t study these axes as isolated physiology — we read their molecular signatures, with multi-omics and mass-spectrometry biomarkers, and ask how the same conserved circuitry expresses itself in two very different model systems. In avian models, that’s fertility, health, and the gut–brain–microbiome connection in birds. In insect models, it’s the behavior, reproduction, and microbiomes of the mosquitoes and flies that move disease. Same wiring, different animals — and the comparison is where discovery lives.
