Dr. Athrey was recently invited to serve on an international consultancy panel for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at its headquarters, located just outside Vienna, Austria. The panel’s purpose was to help design a new program focused on developing resilient livestock in member countries. His expertise in genetics and functional genomics will be crucial in shaping strategies that enable countries to sustainably manage their livestock in the face of environmental challenges and disease threats, thereby contributing to global food security.
