We have just published a new feature article on the lab website that pulls together one of our central research threads: the slow-moving crisis in broiler breeder fertility. It explains why breeder fertility matters for food security, what the national data are telling us, and how our lab is combining multi-omics, high-throughput phenotyping, deep learning, and mathematical modeling to understand and address the decline.
The piece connects the dots between our recent publications and ongoing student projects — from forecasting hatchability trends and building the Broiler Breeder Performance Index, to phenotyping sperm morphology over the reproductive lifespan of individual males. It is meant to be an accessible entry point for students, collaborators, and industry partners who want to understand the bigger picture behind our work.
