M.S. Student Mollie Cobb successfully defended her masters thesis reserarch focusing on the microbiota assembly in chicken in the context of vaccination. Mollie’s research focused on developing a detailed picture of longitudinal changes in the gut microbiota of chicken over the first three weeks of live, in the context of coccidiosis vaccine. She used fecal sample collections from alternate days to develop a temporal series. This work was done in collaboration with PhD student Mridula Gupta who is characterizing the immune cell atlas in response to vaccination. Mollie’s work required collecting hundresds of fecal samples, lab work to isolate DNA and analysis of sequencing data. Contratulations Mollie!
