New preprint on Gut-brain crosstalk

Our lab’s latest work, which is in review at the Mircobiome journal was posted as a preprint on Research Square. This manuscript is the product of the PhD work being performed by Mridula Gupta, and included contributions from Mustafa Cilkiz, and former lab member Mohamed Ibrahim.

The work focused on determining the molecular crosstalk and correlations between the gut microbiota and gene expression in the brain tissue of birds with different circadian chronotypes. Among the key takeaways from the work is the important specific immune and metabolic signaling pathways that are divergent in early life, and also the the role of specific microbial taxa with different metabolic programming outcomes.
