Celebrating Dr. Travis Williams: PhD Graduation

On December 15th, our lab had the immense pleasure of celebrating one of our own, Travis Williams, as he achieved a significant milestone in his academic journey—his PhD graduation.

The Graduation Ceremony: A Moment of Pride

Travis’ graduation ceremony was a poignant moment for all of us who have worked alongside him. Witnessing Travis being recognized for his research on the genomic architecture of wooden breast disorder in commercial broiler chickens was a source of immense pride. His work, which has the potential to impact poultry in meaningful ways, exemplifies the kind of impactful research we strive to conduct in our lab.

Celebrating Together: A Gathering of Friends and Colleagues

Following the official ceremonies, we gathered to celebrate Travis’ achievement in a more informal setting. This celebration was about marking the end of Travis’ Ph.D. journey and appreciating the journey itself—the challenges overcome, the knowledge gained, and the friendships formed along the way.

As Travis closes this chapter of his academic career, he embarks on a new journey: Travis will begin a position as a Molecular Geneticist at Hy-Line International (a leading layer genetics company) in Iowa. While we will miss his presence in the lab, we are excited to see the contributions he will continue to make in the field of poultry science.
