I describe myself as a naturalist first and then as a geneticist, and going back to natural history has always informed my approaches to my research.\u00a0\u00a0I am fascinated by the idea of what genetics can tell us about how things work inside and all around us. \u00a0My broad interests are in using genetics to illuminate\u00a0biological processes at various levels &#8211; from the cellular to the organismal to the population level. \u00a0A major objective of my research program is to use the knowledge generated through research to enable solutions for real-world problems &#8211; novel tools to fight diseases to help define practices and models for sustainable agriculture and conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\">Please check out the &#8220;News&#8221; page on this website to find the latest and the &#8216;Positions&#8217; page to check for student and postdoc opportunities.
